We have expanded our footprint over the last 5 years. Our delivery route include most SADC Countries which includes: Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Botswana, Namibia and Mozambique.
Over the last 30 years we have built up a Mercedez Benz fleet that has proven to be an integral part of our success due to their reliability and after sales service. As a transport company, cost per kilometre is the most important factor to consider and seeing that most of our cargo is time sensitive, it is of utmost importance to have a reliable fleet whilst considering cost. Our fleet has been designed to suite specific customer needs. Our main aim is the FMCG Industry. We run a fleet of Tautliners and Flatbeds and we are constantly expanding and changing our fleet according to our customers needs. Consumer HAZ-CEM has recently become a major factor in the dangerous goods classifications, we have therefore adapted accordingly to maintain a balanced fleet of hazardous and non hazardous vehicles.
All vehicles maintenance are performed by our qualified staff as part of our effort to cut down on down time and improve efficiency. The vehicles are serviced according to dealer standards in order for the warranties to stay in place. Our maintenance staff of 20 comprises of mechanics, panel beaters and workshop assistants. We also run three fully equipped roadside assistance vehicles to deal with any road side breakdowns within South Africa. Further more we have selected reliable roadside assistance mechanics in all of our foreign destinations.
The long distance transport industry is a very high risk business. Adding to that providing export services to foreign countries further contribute to that risk. Procedures had to be put place to secure goods in transit from point of departure to point of delivery. This includes:
All vehicles are owned and operated by J.J. Maritz. This insures safety and quality standards are maintained.
We employ hand picked drivers with adequate experience in the field of cross boarder transport.
Drivers are debriefed after trips and all damages and shortages are investigated.
Weekly shortages and damage reports are drawn up according to vehicle and driver this enables us to take disciplinary action should it be required.
Every load is covered by R900 000 all risk goods in transit ensurance as well as R10 million public liability.
All hazardous loads are covered for environmental cleanup should any spills occur.
Customs inspections are unavoidable we therefore have staff in place at boarder posts to ensure that cargo remain safe and untampered with during inspections.
